A documentary of BMW's Touring Car Story. I highly recommend watching the trailer, tons of hoonage.

Touring car racing in the US should be big. It really ought to be a thing. Looks like a cool movie.
Meanwhile, why was the M1 still the coolest Baader-Meinhof Wagen of all time?

Damnit, Chuck. I just convinced myself that I don't need an E30 race car.

Everyone is chummy over the i8, but I want a proper M1 replacement. Something that will race in SCCA and Tudor.

It will happen one day. Mark my words. I actually know where I can steal one.
And I'm planning on doing a Skip Barber racing school course next summer...
Brb becoming a DTM driver.

Nice! I think once I get the suspension done, and possibly seats, steering wheel, and new wheels and tires, I will go AutoXing. Just for the hell of it. Don't care about times. Also, I'm currently thinking these wheels.
I really love what this guy did to his . Clean bumpers, no more belt trim. Nice stance. I'd have also gotten rid of the reflectors and got some euro turn signals. It's weird. this is almost exactly what I want mine to look like. The hardest part will be the bumpers.

Nice! Easier than real-deal & hard to find 4x100 VW-BBS's.

Yep, much easier. About $45o on ebay, then just get some roundel emblems.

But my hard to find, overpriced 4x100 BBS's were so pretty...

GIVE THEM TO ME. Beautiful. A VW nutter friend has 3 straight ones just sitting in storage that he refuses to sell me because he "might need them someday."

IF I COULD SELL MY GOD DAMN JEEP I COULD DO EVERYTHING AT ONCE AND BE HAPPY UGH YELLING
I definitely planning on taking the 2002 AutoXing at some point though. We might not be as fast as everyone else, but we'll probably be having more fun!
Those wheels look great. They would definitely benefit from a roundel. Personally, I would spend the money for BBSs, but honestly it's just because I'm one of those obnoxious wheel purist assholes. Ahaha. The term "wheel whore" describes me unfortunately well. Do you know what spec wheels you'd get?
I love the 2002 you linked. It's absolutely gorgeous. And I definitely agree about the reflectors and turn signals. I think I'm going to shave the belt line trim too, though. I don't like the belt-less look on a lot of 02s, but I like it with the pastellblau.

I think the shaved beltline will look fine on the white, but that's down the road when I get to bodywork and paint. Right now it's about handling. The spec for the wheels are 15x7 +35. So probably need 8-10mm spacer and longer studs.

Wait, not beltline, whatever the lower one is called. Can't think of it right now.

Ahahaha. I have friends like that. It's always the same excuse. "No, dude. What if I need them? These are hard to find..." Yes, I know, and you don't even have a car that they would fit on, you little shit.
Unfortunately I sold them a while ago. Then I picked up the set below for $100 (yup. $100). I considered doing a center lock conversion for the hell of it and rebarelling the faces (necessary, since the rears were 14 inches wide). I called BBS to see what I even had, and they guy on the other end didn't believe me. Apparently I picked up a set of discontinued magnesium E71's, which are a set of $4500+ wheels, for $100. Who knew.
I sold these too, though. Someone offered me $2000, so I let them go and moved away from my minor BBS addiction for a set of Gotti 150s. I had been lusting after them for a few years and a staggered set of 3 piece, 15 inch version with a close-enough offset were almost impossible to find, but I found them... In Spain. So I had them shipped. I was desperate. I believe the term for someone like me is a "wheel whore." Ahaha. These are being refinished soon, and then they'll be on the 2002. As far as I know, there aren't any other 2002s running these wheels, so that's pretty cool.

Yeah, I have no idea what that trim is called but I know what you mean. Those trim pieces came in the trunk of my car. Guess the previous owner didn't like it either. Ahaha. I think a 8-10mm would be perfect up front. Not sure about the rear. I know for an 8" rear you want a 13mm offset... This car is running the equivalent to that offset, but on a 6.5" wheel up front (+17 on a 6.5, but +25 on a 7)
This is on of my favorite '02s, even though its a 1602. It's just beautiful. Even with that trim piece.

I'm hoping the silver looks okay with the white. I honestly wish I had a colored car. I have the turbines, but will probably flip them. They are useless to me. Maybe someone will buy them. After I get the wheels, I will start messing with the springs and spring pads to get the right stance. Till then, just going to take it as is. That is if BavAuto will get their head out of their ass and tell me when the hell my springs will be shipped. I've called 3 times and no one has any fucking idea. I was supposed to sway them on Friday with everything else I ordered from them, but I guess not. Love doing things twice.

That's so annoying. I've heard pretty good things about BavAuto. From what I've experienced, IE is always on their game and 2002AD are a bunch of fuck boys.
I think the silver on white will look good. It'll be a super clean look. Chamonix is a little warmer than modern whites, and that makes a huge difference. Its funny though. I really only like grey-scale and dark green modern cars, but but colors just work so well on classics.
I love this:
I hate this:
And I also hate Kinja's automatic formatting.

Couldn't agree more. The problem was that they said it would be shipped from their supplier and once it was shipped they would give me the info. It's been a week. Never heard of 2002 AD

2002 AD is based out in Cali. They carry a lot of really good used parts, and are a good resource, but they're not always the most pleasant to deal with. They aren't sketchy or anything, and I've never had any problems with anything I've bought from them... I dunno. Good to fall back on, but I try to avoid them if possible just because they can be a pain in the ass.

My grandpa's '74 was that color, always loved it. My '68 has been sprayed a Corvette red over Granada.

I love Ireland, Jeremy is great. I have loads of their stuff in boxes, waiting to go on my car. We talk with them probably once a week about a customer's E12 project.
Never dealt with 2002AD personally, but they always came up to support the 2002 Fest West here in SLO, I used to volunteer for it every year.
For parts in general, Double 02 Salvage in the Bay Area still has 2002 stuff too.

The green? Or the blue? Sorry, Kinja doesn't tell me which thing you're replying too. Ahaha. Both are awesome colors. Mine is pastellblau, so similar to that blue. A little darker. Red 2002s are so freaking lust-worthy. Especially this one. The Porsche 356 steelies are perfect.

Pastellblau. Those 356 wheels look amazing! That nicely reconciles my latent Porsche fanboy with my BMW ownership.

Why thank you!
This is one time where I am very proud of being a whore.
And, unlike most whores, I'm always broke. Oops.

I actually almost bought the wheels off this guy. They were up for sale on VWVortex a while ago, but the Gottis left me eating ramen noodles for a while. Ahaha.

I've been up many nights contemplating if I want to do those wheels. I'd be about $2000.
But, if I had my way, I'd have these:
What are they? Neue Klasse 1800 14" center and hub attached to a 15x7.5 barrel powder coated and chrome trim ring. I talk to this guy on the BMW 2002 FB group (you should join if you haven't already). I am so jealous. I love steelies, but all the ones I want aren't compatible, are ridiculously expensive (Ti/SA wheels show below), or are just stupid looking.
